Feast 2009: November 14 - 29

Adelaide's Feast Festival - celebrating diverse sexualities and genders.

Started in 1997 and running every year since, Feast has cemented its place as Australia's leading festival of queer arts and culture.

The festival consists of a curated program of works produced by Feast and an open access component, where artists and event organisers can register to be part of the program.

Presently, Feast is a major event on the festival calendar in South Australia. It is a truly international event, bringing performers from all over the world and attracting visitors from near and far.

Feast 2011

Here we go again, time for Feast, and hopefully we will bring a little into sl again.

This year I am part of a real exhibit that will be displayed in the heart of the festival HUB.  I can't imagine my work will be popular, but it is designed to pass on a message, not look pretty on a wall.
Here is the link for the Feast Program guide, I am in the first listed section "Coming Together".

Fixed I hope

Well I now know what happens when the blog template you are linked to goes down, disappears, or whatever. Wow what a mess, I may have to do more adjusting yet, but it is at least readable again now.

Not doing an inworld sl event this year at this point, instead I am having an actual rl art exhibition and must admit it freaks me a little. Still have plenty so work to put together, and work out the best way to display it that is not going to cost me a fortune.

It is still worth a look here

So you stumbled across an old postcard or little calendar card, and though it seemed out of date, you thought you would have a look anyway at the website mentioned. Yep it is still here and so am I. Sadly not too many cards were able to be distributed during Feast last year as the original order was lost somewhere for a while. The printer kindly fixed this by sending a new lot with an extra batch to make up for the delay, unfortunately said cards arrived after the date needed, and were followed two days later by the ones that went astray. Have to love the way life works sometimes.

I am not sure yet if I will be doing anything for Feast RL or in SL this year, but I am always happy to help people that pop up in either place.

And before I signoff, here is a link that should be of great interest to all the Feast folk out there :)

Getting onto Second Life

Well, having been in Second Life for a while, I, like many of my friends, tend to forget what things we needed or would like to have known in those early days. With this in mind, a couple of fresh new faces headed off to figure out how to start, where to go, and what to do.

What follows in this post is the quick how to get into 2nd life rundown, but for the more comprehensive version, and a few tips for how to get things, make things and find some interesting places to go, head to the combined posts of Virtual Catnap and TJ Dannitza on their Blogger page - Virtual Travel Journal

Now here is the quick and dirty version of how to get started in Second Life and then get to the Virtual Fruit, Feast event.
http://secondlife.com (FREE Membership)
Click on “Join Now” & fill out registration details.
You CANNOT CHANGE the name of your character once created, so chose carefully.
Create a password etc, and choose appearance (you can change everything about your look once in world).

Click create account, and go back to http://secondlife.com and select the “Download Secondlife” link at the bottom of the page.
Once the SL viewer is installed, login with your avatar name and password.

You will appear in the “Welcome” area with lots of helpful, free, and instructional things.
To get to the Virtual Fruit event, put http://slurl.com/secondlife/Rannveig/137/149/43 into your normal browser, while you still have Second Life open. This will take you to a map of SL showing Rannveig. Click on “Teleport now”, and it will take your avatar to that location.

Is It Still On?

Yes, yes I have been a bit neglectful of the website, but things are still off and running, and no matter what this should shape up to be an interesting time.

Anyone in SL who has information on useful groups etc for new people coming into SL, I would love you to pass them on so I can put together a good information pack.

Still have shop space on offer, and also after a few giveaways for people in the theme of the event (so fruit and rainbow items).

Most of all I want people to just pop in now and then while Feast is underway, to say high and present a friendly and fun atmosphere. Hope to see some faces, especially when I am damn sure I can not be on 24/7 for all that time (no really, lost the wonder woman costume years ago.....although I have a friend that sells them in SL...), and I would hate for any new people to turn up to an empty sim.

Want a free shop or outlet for a while?

Ok, I am slowly setting up little buildings here and there, which will be for information and as little shopping outlets, so if you have information and resources you would like people to have that fits the event, or you would like a small shop/outlet in the area please get in touch.

The shop/outlets can be occupied until after christmas, and is open to individuals who have never had the resources to commit to a normal shop lease. Individuals are asked to contribute 10 or 15% of sales to help pay for the tier (no sales no charge) which has been extended for a while to make this event better.

There will be a parade along the Lindon road each day (different times), provided I get the float vehical built lol, and little chat/ imfomation sessions at various times.

So want to take part, contact me and say how.
